Tale of Honor is an award-winning free-to-play (F2P) mobile game that masterfully blends stealth puzzle mechanics with narrative-driven gameplay. Set in a rich, immersive world, players navigate through intricate levels where strategic thinking and precise execution are key to success. With a unique chess twist, the game challenges players to outsmart their opponents and achieve objectives stealthily.

My Responsibilities :

When I joined the studio, the game was in the prototyping phase with some core mechanics already in place. I collaborated with the team to iterate on these core loops, refining them for better gameplay.


Core Gameplay and Mechanics

  • Core Loop Refinement: Worked closely with the team to refine the core gameplay loops, ensuring they were engaging and well-balanced.

  • Puzzle Design: Designed numerous puzzles leveraging the core mechanics, focusing on creating challenging and enjoyable gameplay experiences.

  • Meta Loop and Secondary Mechanics: Developed the game's meta loop and introduced secondary mechanics to enhance depth and replayability.

  • Mechanics Prototyping: Prototyped additional puzzle mechanics that build on the existing core mechanics, adding layers of complexity and variety to the gameplay.


Narrative Development

  • Narrative Design: Contributed to the game's narrative, crafting a storyline for each demo that evolved over time. Although the game doesn't have a deep narrative, these stories add context and motivation for the player.


Level Design and Environment

  • Level Creation: Handcrafted each level, from puzzle design to the environment, including lighting and aesthetics, to create an immersive and visually appealing experience.

  • Environmental Design: Paid close attention to the aesthetics and atmosphere of each level, ensuring they complimented the puzzles and narrative.


UI/UX Design

  • UI Design: Designed the game's UI and the flow of game screens, focusing on user-friendly and intuitive interfaces.

  • FTUE (First-Time User Experience): Developed the FTUE to ensure new players could quickly understand and enjoy the game.


Technical Contributions

  • Feature Prototyping: Prototyped new features in Unity, experimenting with innovative ideas and mechanics.

  • Asset Integration: Integrated various assets into the game, working closely with artists and developers to maintain visual and performance quality.

  • UI Implementation: Implemented the UI in Unity, adding interactive elements to enhance the user experience.

  • Optimization: Collaborated with developers and artists to optimize the game, addressing both technical and creative challenges to ensure smooth performance.

  • Technical Problem-Solving: Worked alongside the team to solve technical and creative issues, ensuring that the game met high standards of quality and playability.


Marketing and Branding

  • Trailer Creation: Created engaging trailers to showcase the game’s features and attract potential players.

  • Marketing Assets: Designed various marketing materials, including posters and banners, to promote the game effectively.

  • Logo Design: Designed the game's logo, ensuring it captured the essence and aesthetic of "Tale of Honor."
