When I joined the studio, the game was in the prototyping phase with some core mechanics already in place. I collaborated with the team to iterate on these core loops, refining them for better gameplay.
Core Gameplay and Mechanics
Core Loop Refinement: Worked closely with the team to refine the core gameplay loops, ensuring they were engaging and well-balanced.
Puzzle Design: Designed numerous puzzles leveraging the core mechanics, focusing on creating challenging and enjoyable gameplay experiences.
Meta Loop and Secondary Mechanics: Developed the game's meta loop and introduced secondary mechanics to enhance depth and replayability.
Mechanics Prototyping: Prototyped additional puzzle mechanics that build on the existing core mechanics, adding layers of complexity and variety to the gameplay.
Narrative Development
Narrative Design: Contributed to the game's narrative, crafting a storyline for each demo that evolved over time. Although the game doesn't have a deep narrative, these stories add context and motivation for the player.
Level Design and Environment
Level Creation: Handcrafted each level, from puzzle design to the environment, including lighting and aesthetics, to create an immersive and visually appealing experience.
Environmental Design: Paid close attention to the aesthetics and atmosphere of each level, ensuring they complimented the puzzles and narrative.
UI/UX Design
UI Design: Designed the game's UI and the flow of game screens, focusing on user-friendly and intuitive interfaces.
FTUE (First-Time User Experience): Developed the FTUE to ensure new players could quickly understand and enjoy the game.
